Founder BRANDEN BESTGEN Entrepreneur. Driven. Tenacious.
Growing up in Sturgis, South Dakota, Branden learned the world of construction and development alongside his father. Branden started with nothing, and through hard work and determination grew his humble operation into a multi-million-dollar enterprise. Branden believed he could apply his standard of excellence on the modular construction industry creating the best, fully integrated modular construction company in North America. Behind Branden’s vision lies a full team committed to changing the construction game.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) KODY BYBEE Precise. Analytical. Strategic.
Kody has spent the past 20 years overseeing the financial plan and management of for profit and non profit companies alike. Holding degrees in both Management and Finance, Kody excels at guiding large complex construction projects on time and under budget. Kody’s experience in multiple sectors of business drives him to create a culture where excellence is not just the result, but the overall experience.
President of Development MICHAEL HEITSMAN Explorative. Innovator. Respectful
After receiving his Masters in Architecture from KSU, Michael founded his own firm where he honed his skills in design along with project management. Michael’s desire to design the highest standard of environment that enriches the surrounding community has led to 2 prestigious awards: 99k House competition finalist and a 2020 Steel Competition Finalist. Michael’s combination of design expertise and project management allows him to look at each project as a unique opportunity to create the best project possible.

With over 30 years of manufacturing and construction leadership under his belt, Bob has created an “Employer of Choice” environment at Best Gen. Bob carries with him an expansive assortment of distinctions including a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and certificate from the American Management Association. Bob’s unique experience creates a culture that drives excellence and results.
President of Onsite Construction DONNIE HAMBEK Intelligent. Committed. Game Changer
As the Vice President of Construction for the Best GEN family of companies, Donnie is responsible for the construction operations throughout its geographic footprint. Armed with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, finishing a Master’s Degree in Construction Management, and more than 25 years diverse career experience in engineering, land development, project management, safety inspection, construction business entrepreneurship and consultancy, Donnie brings a broad and unique perspective to the holistic Best GEN vision to be the best in the industry. Donnie is most proud of assembling and managing teams and systems of excellence. When not working, you are likely to find Donnie planning his next destination vacation or on his humble little fishing boat enjoying time with his lovely wife and best friend.
Vice President of People Operations CHRISTINE BURGER Approachable. Spirited. Go-Getter
Christine has spent over 25 years in strategic human resources and people operations. Christine has committed herself to mastering all aspects of people operations, earning an MBA along with a degree and global, senior and senior certified professional certifications in human resources. Adopting the People Ops mentality, Christine’s drive is to create a culture where employees are given the best chance to work and excel.
Property Manager KATHLEEN KROEGER Passionate. Tactful. Generous
Kathleen is an enthusiastic and lifelong member of the Rapid City community. Since her childhood, Kathleen has had a passion for the Black Hills and serving her neighbors. Kathleen developed a keen understanding of management and customer service through her years of law enforcement. More recently, she directed her desire to serve by joining the Gold Key Realty and Auction team, earning her Real Estate Brokers Associate License in 2018. Since that time Kathleen has branched out into property management and hospitality with the Best Western-Ramkota Hospitality Group. She is finishing her requirements to be a licensed Real Estate Broker as she joins the Best GEN Management team.
Kathleen has been a lifelong lover of animals, having co-founded Happy Tails Haven animal rescue where she still presides as the vice president of the board of directors. She can also be found riding horses, camping, or fishing in the Black Hills when you can’t find her working tirelessly around town.
Principal Architect-Pure Design CASEY CULBERTSON Detail Oriented. Adaptable. Compassionate.
Casey is a Principal Architect at Pure Design. Casey holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Kansas State University, is a member of the American Institute of Architects, is LEED AP certified, and has over 13 years’ experience in architectural design. He brings unique skills to projects. Casey is a very detail-oriented designer, capable of seeing a project from inception through completion and combines a capacity to actively listen and question assumptions with a gift of producing sophisticated drawings in real time with clients. He is self-motivated, has excellent interpersonal skills, takes on leadership roles without hesitation, and exhibits superior Revit capabilities. Casey is committed to making a difference through life-long volunteering to local organizations. As a result, Casey was honored with the Paul Harris Fellow award in 2013, through Rotary International. Casey loves spending time with his wife and 3 children.
